Pakistan's retail gold rate is set by the All Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA) and quoted per tola and per 10 grams in Pakistani rupees.
Taxes and import duties
Sales tax on gold jewellery is 3% on value plus 3% on making charges. Import duty on gold is 3% under SRO 760, with additional levies for non-filers.
Popular karats and purities
22k and 21k dominate the bridal market, 24k is used for tola bars and coins, and 18k is growing in urban boutiques.
