Nepal's gold rate is published daily by the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FeNeGoSiDA), quoted per tola (11.664 g) in Nepali rupees.
Taxes and import duties
13% VAT applies to jewellery sales. Import duty is Rs 8,500 per 10 grams for gold plus an additional cess as per the annual budget.
Popular karats and purities
22k ('chhap' gold) is the wedding standard. 24k tejabi gold is used for bars and coins. 18k is common in modern shops.
