Understanding the silver price per tola
The tola is the traditional South Asian weight unit still used daily in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. The modern standard tola equals 11.6638 grams (originally the weight of a British India silver rupee), and bullion bars of exactly 10 tola (116.638 g) are widely traded in Dubai and the subcontinent.
Because Indian jewellers commonly quote per 10 grams while Pakistani and Nepali dealers quote per tola, converting between the two is essential when comparing prices across the border: 1 tola = 1.16638 × the 10-gram rate.
Ten-tola 'TT' bars, produced by refiners such as Emirates Gold and PAMP, remain one of the most liquid bullion formats in the Gulf and are accepted for resale at almost any Dubai souk dealer.
